From the 27th of September until the 1st of October the Food & Fun festival will take place in 9 participating Turku restaurants and 6 joining bars. The concept is simple: connecting local cuisine and drinking culture with international professional guests, and to let new ideas grow. The main goal is to have a good time with cooking and let the customers experience something unique.
The visiting guest together with the restaurant or bar creates a menu with new tastes especially composed for the Food & Fun festival week. The prices for the menus are the same in every restaurant for the convenience of the customer. The Food & Fun festival tries to break habits- as much for the restaurants in Turku as for the dining customers- and wants to create an environment for learning new things.
CC:TKU went on a little trip to a few very new places, to see and (mainly) taste what you should definitely check out during Food & Fun!
One of the participating restaurants is Bruukki, which very recently opened in the former bicycle workshop on Helsinginkatu along the Aura River. They clearly want to keep the biking spirit alive with the choice of interior. The food they serve during lunch and brunch is fresh and balanced, but for the Food & Fun week they will serve a dinner as well.
Roster opened this year close to the cathedral in Turku (after opening in Helsinki last year), and participates as a restaurant and bar for the Food & Fun festival. Their food is meant to be enjoyed in good company and can be shared together. Accompanied by excellent drinks your dining experience will surely be one of a classy, memorable atmosphere.
You already knew CC:TKU is a fan of Kuori, the vegetarian restaurant on Hämeenkatu that soon will celebrate its first year anniversary. During the Food & Fun festival week especially, it will be interesting to see what new ideas they will bring to the table working with Daniel Cochran Jónsson from Sushi Social in Reykjavik.
Take your opportunity during the Food & Fun festival to taste unique combinations in our own city of Turku. We won’t have to go abroad to experience the creations of the international guests at our local restaurants. We only have to get out and explore what Food & Fun has to offer!
