How did you find yourself in this job?
This job found me! I became friends with a tattooist and somehow became one myself… I got to be his apprentice, which I am very grateful for. I had already been collecting tattoos and had some drawing skills, and now after 16 years of tattooing I still love it. It’s a way of life, not just a job.
What do you enjoy about your workplace?
I enjoy the work itself and my great colleagues / friends!
What makes Turku your place to live and work?
Turku has been the main city for my whole life. I have always lived here and nearby, and I like the compact size of this town.
Who (or what) are your tattooing and art influences?
There’s too many to list! From pioneers of western tattooing (from the early 1900s) to Japanese masters, and all great artists of our world! I think everything you see has some influence on your work, you just need to keep your third eye open… I also have many talented friends in this line of work, so that always makes a big impact! And working with talented people, you can learn something every day.
What’s the best way to spend a winter’s day in Turku?
The best way to spend a winter’s day is to get tattooed of course! You’ll be ready when the sun starts to shine and you can finally show some bare skin outside!
